Today, Monday, May 10 at 10 am, Symbola – Foundation for Italian Qualities and Enel Group in collaboration with Farmindustria and under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation presented the report “100 Italian Life Sciences Stories“.
“The purpose of the report – as stated by Francesco Starace, CEO and General Manager of Enel – is to tell 100 stories of companies, researchers, scientists, universities, start-ups and healthcare facilities that work every day to ensure people’s health and make it possible to have the best tools for the treatment and improvement of patients’ quality of life. The report highlights a real excellence for our country, a heritage of skills, innovations and technologies appreciated and recognized worldwide.”
On a map with 300 Italian excellences in the sector split up by region, Biotechware was selected among the 100 realities promoted throughout Italy and among the three selected in Piedmont.
Founded in 2011 as start-up of I3P incubator, Biotechware – as presented in the report – is an Italian company that looks at the world with the ambition of innovating the smart healthcare system. At a distance of 10 years, the spin-off of the Polytechnic University of Turin has received significant foreign VC investments. The idea and the will of founding the start-up have arisen from the experiment of two IT engineers who designed and launched on the market the first CardioPad Pro: a portable electrocardiograph capable of acquiring patients’ data, producing a medical report in few minutes. A team of cardiologists analyses the data acquired by the devices, carries out the diagnosis and sends the medical report to the patient or the healthcare operator who has requested it. In the following years, the company widened the supply adding new Holter devices and services.
From its headquarters in Turin, Biotechware has given a boost to the innovation in the field of telemedicine, thanks to the cloud platform that systematises and simplifies the process of data acquisition, analysis and transmission. Therefore, by computerising processes that are usually slowed down by mediations and bureaucratic procedures, Biotechware allows the patient to get an ECG in short time, at home or at the pharmacy. Today, thanks to its made in Italy products, the company has been able to carve out a space on the healthcare market, offering telecardiology services in support of the diagnostic activity of private accredited healthcare institutions, delivering a service ensuring high added value form the clinical, organizational and technological viewpoint”
We would like to thank Symbola, Enel Group and Farmindustria for the interest shown in our reality and for promoting and enhancing our company in this valuable overview of Life Sciences made in Italy.
